When opening your pop-up event, differentiation is key. One way to stand out is by hosting your pop-up event at a unique venue. We recently took a look at rooftops, galleries and industrial spaces in NYC, plus boat rentals around the world. Now, we’re rounding up ten unique pop-up rentals in San Francisco, from an elegant theatre in Saigon to a virtual store on Market Street.
1. Flexible Pop-Up Space in SoMa
If you need a space that you can transform to create a true brand experience, this SoMa spot could be the one for you. Having recently undergone a 10,000-square-foot expansion, the flexible space is expansive. Rent out the entire property for large events, such as conferences or product launches, or opt for a portion of the space, which can hold up to six meetings at once.
What makes this space truly unique, though, is bragging rights. It’s home to the 335-year-old table that is the oldest and largest in the U.S. Use it for meetings or dining, and take advantage of the optional catering and bar service packages. Not to mention the advanced audio and visual offerings, including green screen, projection capabilities and staging for photo and video shoots.
2. Modern Venue in Inner Sunset
This unique Inner Sunset pop-up venue is the first we’ve seen with walls of wine. But that’s not the only feature that makes this space stand out. Modern-looking exposed wood beam ceilings create a homey feel in the intimate 1,000-square-foot room.
Large windows allow plenty of light into the space, plus an area to create signage and displays to attract foot traffic if you’re hosting a pop-up shop. For private events, make use of the large table and ample window bench seating. Conveniently near universities, retail shops and restaurants, the location is passed by around 45,000 people heading to the light rail on a daily basis.
3. Multiuse Social Hall in Polk Gulch
If you’re hosting an event with live music, this unique venue in Polk Gulch could be just the place. Complete with customizable lighting, stage and 40-foot built-in bar, this social hall is also a great space for other large events, such as product launches, banquets, trade shows, receptions or fashion shows.
Gray and gold walls, hardwood floors, arched and exposed ceiling beams — the details come together for an elegant and unique atmosphere that’s versatile for any event. With almost 3,000 square feet to work with, the space can accommodate 600 standing guests (or 425 seated).
4. Virtually Pop Up in This Market Street-inspired Space
It’s tough to get any more unique than this head-turning venue: a virtual pop-up space in San Francisco. Completely customizable, the virtual pop-up puts your brand and products right in the middle of Market Street — and on connected devices across the globe.
Take a virtual tour of the space and envision how you can highlight your products online and offline. This provides the unique opportunity for retailers to create an immersive in-person experience that not only complements, but highlights, the online experience as well. Plus, at just $3,000/month (with a three-month minimum commitment), the price is right.
5. Striking Venue in Presedio Heights
You get a 2,000-square-foot National Historic Landmark with this unique pop-up listing. An arts and crafts-style home built in 1895 is equally charming as it is functional. A full kitchen, two outdoor gardens, three unique rooms and a candlelight sanctuary make the perfect venue for private events and showcases.
In the sanctuary — arguably one of the property’s most unique features — there’s room for up to 130 people to sit comfortably, enjoying a lecture, speech or performance during your event.
6. Pop-Up Space in Mission District
Also in SoMa, this unique pop-up space is close to the Civic Center, Moscone Convention Center and Union Square, making it easily accessible for event guests. The space is ideal for private parties and launches, including an upper-level loft that serves as the perfect VIP section.
Downstairs, the bar and dance floor set the stage for launches, fashion shows, live music or product launches. The generous 5,000 square feet of space can accommodate up to 400 people.
7. Industrial Studio in Castro
Gray slab walls, vaulted ceilings and exposed air ducts create an industrial feel in this multifunctional space that is primarily a gym. Located in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood, near Upper Market Street and Hayes Valley, this listing offers 2,100 square feet of well-lit space.
Pop-up shops and product launches are common occurrences in this venue, making use of the large windows at the front of the space to attract passersby. Fitting rooms make it a functional, turnkey option for apparel and fashion brands especially. Create an authentic customer experience with sound and audio equipment and the blank slate of an area with white walls and wood floors.
8. Event Space Close to Little Saigon
A grand ballroom may not have been the first venue to pop into your mind, but that’ll change when you see this spot in Little Saigon. 35-foot ceilings, almost two dozen chandeliers and hardwood floors make an elegant and opulent space for your next pop-up event.
The 6,624-square-foot space is a landmark in its own right. It also features a built-in stage and upper-level balcony, making it well-suited for events with live entertainment. This venue will create an unforgettable pop-up experience for every guest.
9. Pop-Up Shop Near AT&T Park
The Yard at Mission Rock is a popular shipping container village, home to many retail shops and restaurants. Anchor Brewing Beer Garden, Belcampo Meat Company, Creperie Saint-Germain and the Street Soccer USA Park will be your neighbors at this thriving pop-up hub.
Located right on the waterfront and near the home field of the San Francisco Giants baseball team, there’s ample parking and access to The Yard facilities. You’ll need to commit to a minimum of three months to occupy the unique 240-square-foot and become a part of the shipping container community — an investment that’s surely worth it.
10. Beautiful Victorian Style Venue in the Heart of San Francisco
Another Victorian-inspired home, this unique venue is located inside the Payne Mansion boutique hotel in Cathedral Hill. Charming, elegant and welcoming are all adjectives that accurately depict the space that’s perfect for events. Past events include haunted houses and masquerade balls, to name a few.
Built in 1881 and renovated in 2013, this 4,500-square-foot listing can welcome up to 300 guests. Outfitted with its original hardwood pocket doors, you can open up the expansive space or separate it into different areas.
